The brain is a wonderful organ. It starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office.

An interesting twist on the Tribute Album

According to At Ease Web, BBC Radio 4 will be airing a play inspired by Radiohead’s OK Computer.  The play draws on the themes of the classic album.  The play is meant to be broadcast on Friday 19th October in the evening.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation have an interesting paper on possible ways forward in the world of file sharing where file sharer’s pay a levy for the right to file share.  The document can be found here.

Radiohead comment on MP3 Quality

Radiohead have responded to the criticism of the bit rate quality (something I’ve previously blogged about) of the new album’s download according to the NME.  Jonny Greenwood said that the bit rate was better than that offered by iTunes, but not going to be CD quality as that quality is what CDs are for.  Which means if you want In Rainbows at a normal quality then you’ve got to fork out £40! An expectation that I would suggest as somewhat outrageous.

liveplasma music, movies, search and discovery engine

I came across a rather pretty and nicely presented website to music and film fans called liveplasma which provides a rather graphically rich network of associations and style related information (I believe it is exploiting the amazon API for this information).  For an example see the network for Moby on LivePlasma.

Radiohead – In Rainbows

I received my Radiohead download instructions in preparation for tomorrows release. I have to say that I’m gutted that the MP3’s will only 160bpm – not the greatest quality in the world. I hope the quality of the music is greater than that of the MP3s.

iheard Radio Stations – online radio station search engine

Catching up with my reading and come across a useful site – iheard, which is a specialized search engine for web based radio stations. Although can find your radio stations using the likes of Google and Yahoo – you do have to then filter out the noise. This does all of that for you.

BgInfo – Helping manage your servers

In my work roll I’m having to manage more and more machines, particularly with the increasing adoption of Virtualisation.  A friend of mine introduced me to a rather helpful little tool which used to be provided freely by SysInternals and now Microsoft (they acquired sysInternals) called BgInfo. BigInfo create a simple wallpaper that provides clear visibility of a machine’s configuration.  Below is an example in Vista:

The only shame is that it doesn’t capture the information for Linux based machines as well.
