Wikihood – iphone app

app, iphone, location

I came across a great use of the iPhone and it’s location capabilities. Essentially it uses your location to query a wiki. The information it retrieved and the way it presented it was great.

I would recommend giving it a go.

iphone mobile

I have just changed mobiles from a Samsung Soul to an iPhone. As much as it is a brilliant app platform it does have a few annoying absences on the phone front. For example the Soul had multiple modes such as car, outside, meeting and so on. Groups on the Soul can be given ringtones as well as individuals (an app opportunity to create the effect?)

My last critism is the predictive text isn’t as quick as the Soul. Although that maybe partly because of the full keyboard.

Final observation is that the Bluetooth could easily offer a lot more without needing to resort to jailbreak.

music article history future

O Reilly published an article with a view on the history and the future of music. The article suggests in some respects that we’re approaching the point of closing a cycle in the way we can appreciate music.

I have to say although the article raises some interesting points, I am not entirely sold on all the arguments.  But make your own mind up – article here.

In Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking-
Glass, the Red Queen tells Alice that “it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!”
