Well Santa may have delivered all of his presents, and its time to try on our new socks and so on, I do one present that looks fabulous, but Im hesitant to actually use – http://faithless.sandbag.uk.com/Store/BoxSet.html the limited edition Faithless Dance box set with vinyl (beautiful) version of the album along with remix version of the album.

This leads me into something I have been meaning to blog about for a while. That being the ever growing trend to keep rereleasing albums with bonus disks or just extra tracks.
Faithless have been doing this for 15 years now from their Reverence (and Irrevence alter ego). But things are getting crazy now in the attempt to milk it from fans. Take Michael Buble’s current album. There are at last count 3 different versions with different additional tracks.

From a syndical perspective this is the record albums trying to extract multiple purchases from the core fans. But is it doing them any favours? I’m not convinced, I believe people are savvy to this game now, so are hanging on for the rerelease, and perhaps downloading legally or otherwise the initial release, or doing the reverse, being good citizens, and then getting annoyed and sourcing the additional tracks in a manner that may not be so desirable to the industry; an own goal?
